Getting Ready

Beat the Heat!

This is an outdoor sporting event in the Virginia summer: PREPARE FOR HEAT

  • Recommended Items:
    • Folding chairs
    • Water
    • Sunscreen
    • A pop tent (if you have one!)
    • Personal fans
    • Lots and lots of snacks!

Know Your Heat

  • Before the meet, a "heat sheet" will be sent out to the team containing the order that athletes will be competing in
  • You also should be able to see your swimmer's events in the Swimtopia Mobile App by selecting the upcoming meet
  • Here's an example of how you can help your swimmer know where they need to be by writing it on their arm!

Order of Events

The order of events is determined by the Jefferson Swim League, and is listed in the JSL manual:

A meet will be noted regarding whether it is a long freestyle meet or a medley relay meet, since that changes the event order.

Home Meets

Volunteers

We're proud to be a small team in the JSL, and for the community that offers our swimmers. We're also known for being friendly hosts to our guest teams. Running a fun, efficient, and safe swim meet is a big undertaking for a small team. It can only happen when everybody does their part!

Where to Park

Hospitality starts at the entrance. As shown in the image above, we prioritize space for our guests near the pool and the tennis/pickleball courts. If you are able to do so, please park near the clubhouse main entrance or on the other side of the driveway to make as much room as possible of our guest teams.

Where to Setup

Most of our guest teams are larger than we are. Because of this, we setup on the far side of the pool deck, along the fence that separates the main pool from the adult pool.

Instructions for visiting our friends at other clubs are typically sent out the week of the meet.

For the 2026 season, our away meets are:

  • Fry's Spring Beach Club
  • Key West
  • Lake Monticello

If there is a link above, then it should take you to the appropriate page on that team's website for more info about visiting their club.
